Naagyei 90.3 Fm Agyapa
The Rapid Response Team of the Nkawie District Forest Services Division led by Chrisantus Nifaasoyir has arrested five (5) illegal miners who encroached Jimira forest reserve for mining.
The suspects are: Mohammed Boadi, 35, Kwadwo Agyapong, 31, Rueben Mensah, 26, Ganiru Alhassan, 20, and Kwame Appiah, 16.
Briefing the media, Mr Nifaasoyir said the suspects were mining at Nyinahi-Amangoase and was rounded up at the Compactment 22 of the forest reserve.
Equipment retrieved from them included three excavators, gold detector and one motorbike.
Mr Nifaasoyir appreciated the support from Amangoase residents that made the arrest successful.
