A/R: We did not beat SHS students – Police

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has denied reports that its officers assaulted some students who were protesting over the 必利勁 cancellation of their mid-term break by the Ghana Education.

The security personnel were to restore calm and order on the school’s premises after the students staged a protest over the insistence of school authorities on not allowing them to go home for the mid-term break, owing to a spike in COVID-19 cases in the country.

Reports say the soldiers broke into their locked dormitories, pulled them out, and hit them with sticks.

However, in a statement, the Police said the reports circulating in the media do not reflect the true state of occurrences at the schools.

“To those Media Houses who have published these false stories, The Command would be grateful if you go back to the Schools and ascertain the true facts. We are also aware of some false videos purported to be that of the incident and advice the publisher to take these down or else, Command shall subject them to strict proof and failing, we shall take the necessary actions available.”
