Bono East: Peace exists only when there’s justice – Mahama

Ex-President and the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has indicated, his party will only adhere to calls for him to accept the results of the just ended polls in Ghana only when there is justice.

According to him, collation of results for this year’s elections was unfair and as such wants stakeholders to intervene.

The NDC Flag bearer was speaking during a courtesy call on the Omanhene of the Techiman Traditional council, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV as part of his visit to Techiman to seek redress to uncertainties surrounding the Techiman South Parliamentary seat.

He was sad over the number of people who lost their lives during the just ended polls saying, it is unprecedented. Mr. Mahama also reiterated his shock over the deployment of military to various Collation centers last week during the Collation process describing it as overwhelming.

Earlier, the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah called on the Omanhene of Techiman to intervene in their grievances over what they describe as an attempt by the Electoral Commission to rob them of their victory in Techiman South Parliamentary Elections. He said, the process used by the EC to declare results there was not transparent.

In response, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw said, the the traditional council has paid heed to their call but added, they will need to be strategic in their intervention. The Omanhene said, he and his elders will make the necessary consultation before officially responding to the NDC’s claims.
