Buipe: Fuel tankers gutted by fire near Ghana’s oil storages

Three fuel tankers parked near the Bulk Oil Storage Transportation (BOST) depot at Buipe in the Savannah Region, have been totally gutted by fire.

The inferno struck the tankers and their content Friday evening but firefighters were helpless to extinguish the fire as there were no fire tenders.

There were no casualties, but an assistant to one of the drivers of the fuel tankers sustained severe burns and has been sent to the hospital for treatment.

Officials of BOST say the fire will not affect operations of the company nor will it affect fuel supply situation in the north of the country.

Maleek Adjei, Head of Corporate Communication and External Affairs at BOST says the company will conduct investigations into the cause of the incident.
