Cape Coast pitch invader fined GHc2,400 by court

The 25-year-old nursing trainee, Awal Suleman who invaded the pitch during Ghana vs South Africa AFCON qualifier in Cape Coast last week has been fined a sum of GHc2,400 by the Cape Coast Circuit court on Thursday.

He was charged on two counts: resisting arrest and disturbing public peace.

Awal has been asked to sign a bond of good behavior, failure to pay the fine will attract a 3 month in prison term.

He shockingly interrupted the Black Stars’ game by surprisingly running onto the Cape Coast stadium during the dying embers of the game at the time Ghanaians were savoring the 2:0 lead.

Awal was chased by the security personnel in the stadium for a while until he was finally caught and escorted him away.

He was subsequently arrested, and spent a day behind bars, before being released by the Police.

Awal later revealed that he ran onto the pitch because he wanted to take a selfie with Midfielder and Athletico Madrid Star, Thomas Partey.

He was excited when he finally met the player with the two posing for a photo together.
