Citi FM’s Caleb Kudah broke the “No photography” rule – National Security Ministry

The Ministry of National Security says Citi FM/TV Journalist Caleb Kudah broke the “No photography” rule by filming the premises of the Ministry which is a restricted security zone.

Caleb Kudah was picked up by National Security operatives on Tuesday while seven heavily built armed officers later stormed the Citi FM station and also arrested another Broadcast Journalist Zoe Abu-Baidoo, who had reportedly received files from Caleb Kudah.

Both were subsequently released after the videos were deleted by the security operatives.

Caleb after his release in an interview claimed that he was physically assaulted by National Security operatives during interrogation while he was in handcuff.

The action by the security officers has been roundly condemned by a large section of the public.

But the Ministry of National Security in the statement justified the arrest of the two journalists.

According to the Ministry, Mr Kudah filmed some cars within its precincts hence breaching the “No photography rule at such restricted security zones”. It further accused Caleb of accessing the premises under false pretense.

“It was also revealed that Mr Kudah had forwarded the footages he had taken surreptitiously to Ms Zoe Abu Baidoo. Upon declining an invitation for an interrogation, Ms Abu Baidoo was picked up by operatives of the Ministry”, the statement signed by the Chief Director at the National Security Ministry said.

But the Ministry said it has commenced investigations into allegation that the two journalists were manhandled during interrogation.

“The Ministry of National Security wishes to assure the Public that appropriate actions shall be taken if the allegations are found to be true”, the statement said.
