Black Stars coach CK Akonnor has advised Ghanaian midfield anchor, Thomas Partey to ditch English giant Arsenal to continue his stay at Spanish side Atletico Madrid.
The Ghana National team coach in an exclusive interview with Accra-based Starr FM made his intentions known concerning the player’s rumourrd move to the Gunners.
“I wouldn’t advise Thomas Partey to move to Arsenal because with Atletico Madrid, he’ll always play in the Champions League”, he said.
According to the Black Stars Manager, the midfielder may end up without Champions League football at the London club since he believes their chances of making it to Europe’s elite club competition is slimmer by the year as compared to the Madrid-based club.
“It will be difficult for Arsenal FC to qualify for the Champions League so I would edge him to stay in Madrid”, he added.
The 27-year-old has been linked to a move away from the Spanish La Liga side to London side Arsenal FC since January.
Partey is currently injured and will miss his side’s encounter with German side RB Leipzig in today’s Champions League quarter final in Portugal.
