The Eastern Regional Police Command is on the heels of some four armed robbers who robbed a carpenter in a rambo style at Koforidua Anlo Town in broad daylight.
Two of the robbers dressed in Police and Military Uniforms made away with Ghc9,800 cash and two mobile phones worth ghc410 belonging to the victim, Monya Frank.
According to DSP Ebenezer Tetteh, PRO of the Eastern Regional Police Command, the victim, at about 3pm went to withdraw Ghc8,500 from Upper Manya Krobo Rural Bank-Koforidua branch and while returning he boarded a tricycle popularly known as “Pragea” and was later joined by two female passengers.
But on reaching new Gabson Pharmacy Branch at Anlo Town heading towards Zongo, a Hyundai Sonata Private Car onboard by the four suspects crossed the Tricycle and pulled him out and handcuffed him under the guise of being under arrest for robbery and was wanted by the Regional Police Headquarters.
The victim, narrating his ordeal said he was then thrown into his attackers car where they took away Ghc8,500 he took from the bank and another cash of Ghc1,300 which he had in his pocket and two mobile phones.
He was assaulted, stripped naked and his face covered with his shirt.
Monya Frank, said he was later abandoned on Koforidua to Bunso road but a taxi driver who came to his aid transported him to lodge official complaint at the Bunso Police station where medical forms and extract were issued to him to report the matter at Koforidua Police station under whose jurisdiction the incident.
DSP Tetteh has assured that efforts are underway to apprehend the robbers and appealed to the public to volunteer information to police to facilitate their arrest.
