Ejura Sekyedumase: 47 Cash For Work, SOS GrEEn Project beneficiaries graduate

Forty-seven (47) natives of Ejura Sekyedumase Municipality in the Ashanti Region have benefited from SOS GrEEn Project.

The project is aimed at providing the youth, especially returnees who had traveled to seek greener pasture elsewhere to be empowered with relevant Life Employability Skills and Orientational Technical Training to secure sustainable livelihoods within the green local economy.

The trainees were taken through six months of skills training to equip them in employable ventures.

The aim of the GrEEN project is to help address the root causes of illegal migration, supporting sustainable climate-resilient communities and local economies through the creation of GrEEN jobs about promoting sustainable development in regions of departure, transit, and return for migrants.

The trainees who worked at the capital project sites were paid one hundred and eighty-seven Ghana Cedis, seventy-five pesewas (Ghc187.75) for the period of training.

The project is in two categories namely; Cash For Work and Capital Projects. A culvert at Ejura-Badukrom and Water project at Ejura-Sabonline were constructed under the capital project module.

Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei Municipal Chief Executive of Ejura Sekyedumase addressing the graduands revealed that “this project had become necessary as it fits into the NPP Government led by His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s policy to provide employable skills to the youth of this country in order to prevent them from channeling their energies to unproductive ventures but into ventures that would help both the beneficiaries and the country at large”.

He added that the NPP government is open to partnerships that would contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of this nation.

Hon. Dr. Kingsley Osei advised the graduands by encouraging them to be the ambassadors of the project by putting into productive use the knowledge they have acquired from the training so that, their brothers and sisters would be motivated to take up the opportunity when the door is opened for another season.
