Ejura-Sekyedumase MCE cuts sod for construction of 6.4km town road project

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ejura-Sekyedumase, Hon. Salisu Bamba has cut the sod for the construction of 6.4 km Ejura Town roads.

According to him, the soon to commence project is in fulfillment of President Akufo Addo’s pledge to undertake major road construction this year as 2020 has been tagged the Year of Roads.

Speaking to the media after the sod-cutting ceremony, Hon. Salisu Bamba who’s also the ruling New Patriotic Party(NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ejura, stated that though the municipality has witnessed work done on its feeder roads, work is yet to be done on the urban roads since 2017.

He expressed confidence that the contractor will do a good job by constructing a road network that will last for a long time.

Hon. Bamba commended the Akufo-Addo administration for such a massive road project in his area.

We have gotten many bridges under this government when it comes to town roads be it Ejura, Sekyedumase or Anyinasu we are yet to see the first town roads. We are starting with 6.4km which is huge because the total network of roads we have as at today is 7.9km so if this government is going to add 6.4km to the 7.9km that we have from inception of the Fourth Republic, I think that it is something that is huge.

Hon. Bamba was hopeful that the roads when constructed will improve the living condition of the residents who are mostly traders and farmers and also reduce flooding in the area which has been a problem for some time now.

The road is also going to beautify the municipality if you go to places that have benefited from road network you see that the environment is very beautiful. So this project apart from the economic benefit will actually beautify the municipality,” He added.

The Contractor, Kwasi Appiah of K. Appiah construction limited assured to do quality work, adding that his firm will strictly adhere to the contract terms which is to complete work within a year.

He was hopeful that the work would even be completed in lesser time.
