Election 2020: IGP to speak on police’s preparedness today

The Inspector-General of Police, James Oppong-Boanuh, is billed to address Ghanaians later today, Wednesday, November 04, 2020 on security concerns in the lead up to the December, 07 elections.

This comes on the heels of his nationwide tour and the general assessment of police readiness countrywide ahead of the elections.

It’s likely the IGP will speak about the isolated cases of election-related violence reported in some parts of the country and the wave of armed robbery incidents.

The Ghana Police Service has identified a number of areas where chaos is likely to erupt ahead of the December 7, elections.

The vicinities are categorised into key flashpoints with the Ashanti Region topping with the most districts prone to violence.

The Ghana Police Service has already furnished the National Election Security Taskforce with the details of these 4,098 flashpoints to guide its tactical arrangements and deployments across the country’s 16 regions.
