Establish National Film Authority NOW – Film Stakeholders to Govt

Stakeholders and practitioners from the film industry have threatened to go on a demonstration if the Government refuses to establish National Film Authority (NFA) under the Classification and Development of Film Act, Act 935.

They believe governments have been selective in implementing Acts of Parliament in this country.

According to them, many very important Acts are left unattended to while governments pursue their own new agenda bring some proposals under certificates of urgency.

The Classification and Development of Film Act took over two decades to be pass to enable the film industry to build on good structures and sanity within the film industry.

But this Act has been ignored for three years now. As it stands now the Ghanaian Film industry is without structures, it is as loose as the word and needs to be strengthened to enable the industry to grow well and possibly dovetail into the President’s Ghana Beyond Aid Agenda.

Film industry across the globe is one major sector that builds and project a country’s image and brings hope to the people, Ghana is not an exception.

The #NFAnow- AG will like to announce to all stakeholders and the media that, every necessary step needed to save the film industry of Ghana must be taken and we will make sure of that. The group is throwing at government especially Mr. President, who has the authority to appoint both Executive Secretary and Board Chair of the National Film Authority in accordance of ACT935 within a week or risk seeing film stakeholders on the streets of Accra.

To this end, #NFAnow AG wishes to call on all film industry stakeholders and the public join us show our displeasure in the delay in appointing both Executive Secretary and the inauguration of the Board. The implementation of ACT 935 is to the benefit of the film industry and Ghana. Structures are very important in the development of every sector of our economy and we hope government will not delay further after months of stakeholder nominees waiting to serve the industry.

God Bless Ghana Film Industry!!
God Bless Ghana!!
