FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Black Stars beat Warriors of Zimbabwe 3:1

The Black Stars of Ghana have trounced the Warriors of Zimbabwe by 3:1 in their FIFA World Cup qualifier played at the Cape Coast Stadium on Saturday evening.

The Ghanaians scored their first goal through Mohammed Kudus in the 5th minute after the ball was beautifully laid for him by striker Jordan Ayew.

Kudus failed to make it two for the Black Stars as he missed some glaring opportunities that came his way.

Ghana led by a solitary goal to the end of the first half of the game. But soon after the break, RC Strasbourg Alsace defender, Alexander Djiku fouled the Warriors striker giving the Zimbabweans a spot-kick which was scored by Knowledge Musona to equalize.

However, Arsenal star Thomas Partey scored Ghana’s second goal after making his way through the Zimbabwean defence.

Captain Andre Ayew made it three for Ghana with a header from a beautiful cross from left-back Baba Abdul Rahman.

The victory put Ghana on six points and are behind group leaders South Africa by one point.

The Stars are set to face the Warriors of Zimbabwe on Tuesday in Harare in their next qualifier.
