FIPAG to screen every movie before being uploaded onto Cinestool app

The Film Producers Association of Ghana(FIPAG) has served notice that it strictly ensure that only quality movies are uploaded on the Cinestool app where local movies are to be sold going forward.

According to FIPAG, it will thoroughly screen every Ghanaian movie to ensure it meets international and ethical standards because in the past low-quality movies were allowed onto the market which adversely affected the movie industry.

“We are not going to allow any poorly done movie onto the market to cause us disgrace as was done in years back. We’ll sit down and carefully study the script, look at the cast and also the Director who will be working on the movie before we accept it. Now when you produce a movie, the movie will be in our custody, we’ll do the marketing and sales but the owner will monitor how much money he’ll be making from the movie on the internet,” the Public Relations Officer of FIPAG Mawule Ekpe Peter told Host Moses Aluebasi on Ejura based Naagyei FM Entertainment Review show.

Touching on claims that veteran actors are no more being used, Mr Mawule Ekpe Peter said that is not entirely true as some of the old actors are still being used.

He, however, added that their usage also depends on the “times and season” we find ourselves in.

“If I can use a talented actor like Kwadwo Nkansah Lil win and turn him into an old man and he perfectly plays that role and there’s good sales for that movie, I will not bother to continue using him despite the fact that an old actor could also play that same role.”
