First Lady presents medical equipment to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital

The First Lady and Founder of The Rebecca Foundation, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo has presented a Phototherapy Machine worth Thirty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 30,000) to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

The presentation is in fulfilment of a promise Mrs. Akufo-Addo made when she last visited the Hospital in October this year, to commission an Obstetrics and Gynaecology Block, and a 16 bed Mothers Hostel.

Making the presentation at her Office at Ridge in Accra, Mrs. Akufo-Addo expressed optimism that the equipment will go a long way to assist the hospital deal with many infant related illnesses for which phototherapy can remedy.

Receiving the medical Equipment, Senior Clinical Technician at the Hospital, Mr. Richard Agbeko Agbanyo, thanked the First Lady for her kind gesture and praised The Rebecca Foundation for the many humanitarian works in several Health facilities, especially in the area of maternal care.

He said the presentation of the Phototherapy machine is very timely as it would go a long way to contribute to reducing the infant mortality rate, pursuant to Millennium Development Goals 4 (MDG 4) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Phototherapy machine is a technologically advanced medical equipment used for the treatment of neonatal illnesses such as neonatal jaundice. It also serves as an incubator to provide a safe and stable environment for new-born infants, often those born prematurely or with an illness or disability that makes them vulnerable for the first several months of life.

Also at the Office of the First Lady to make a presentation to the Rebecca Foundation was Royale Dental clinic a medical supplies company specialising in the supply and distribution of dental products and medications.
The company presented hospital equipments to the Foundation.
Making the Presentation, CEO of Royale Dental Clinic in Toronto Canada , Dr George Boahene Ansong said his company has followed with keen interest and admiration, humanitarian activities of The Rebecca Foundation since its inception, especially its immense contribution to the health sector and decided to associate with a worthy cause.

Receiving the items, Mrs. Akufo-Addo congratulated the management of Royale Dental Clinic for not sitting on the fence to admire the good works of the Rebecca Foundation, but rather, jumping on board to assist promote a worthy cause.
The First Lady urged other companies and individuals to emulate Royale Dental Clinic by contributing through The Rebecca Foundation to provide for the poor and vulnerable in society, especially mothers and children.
