GES postpones reopening of schools for SHS 1 students to March 18

The Ghana Education Service(GES) has postponed the reopening for first-year students in senior high schools to March 18, 2021.

The first-year students were originally scheduled to report to school this Wednesday, 10th March after completing the ongoing school placement exercise.

However, the GES says it has noted that some students have still not been able to complete the process hence the decision to shift the reopening to next week.

In the light of the foregoing and to give parents and guardians some additional time to prepare the students for school and for the schools to have additional time to prepare to receive them, Management has decided that the reopening of schools for first-year students should be rescheduled for Thursday 18th March through to Sunday 21st March 2021. The spread-out period is to enable the schools to structure the admission processes in such a way that not too many students get crowded at the schools at a particular time. Academic work in schools should commence on Monday 22nd March 2021,” a statement signed by Deputy Director-General, Anthony Boateng said.
