The National Labour Commission(NLC) has directed members of the Technical University Teachers Association of Ghana (TUTAG) to call off their four-day-old strike.

A statement by the Commission on Friday ruled that the directive takes immediate effect.

The lecturers from eight technical universities across Ghana on Monday, declared an indefinite strike to demand payment of some delayed allowances.

The Association said government has “refused to fully comply” with the ruling by the National Labour Commission (NLC) that members of the association start receiving allowances due them.

At the end of a meeting with representative of TUTAG, the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Employment and Labour Relation, Ministry of Education, the National Labour Commission ruled that payment will be made for six out of the eight technical universities who submitted their data by January 29.
