I fired a gun to scare them – Minister talks about chaos at registration cenre

The Minister for Special Development Initiative, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has admitted to firing a warning shot on Monday during a brawl at the Step to Christ registration centre in the Awutu Senya East Constituency.

The otherwise peaceful registration exercise at the Step to Christ centre was put on hold abruptly after some armed men fired gunshots and drove away persons who had thronged the centre to register.

The disturnace left in its wake the burning of three motorbikes.

The Minister of State at the Presidency in an interview with Adom News stated that she couldn’t have sat down to see aliens come into her constituency to register hence had to storm the registration centre with her men who were unarmed to ensure that only constituents were allowed to register.

She accused her opponent, the opposition NDC Parliamentary candidate Philis Naa Koryoo of busing people into the constituency to register at the venue of the incident.

Hon. Hawa Koomson insisted that she only shot the gun to put fear in her charged opponents and avoid a possible attack on her and her team.

Meanwhile, four men have been arrested by the police in connection with the chaotic incident.
