Former President John Mahama has urged the public to disregard reports suggesting that he will declare his running mate for the 2020 elections today in a Facebook live address.
A Photo of Mr. Mahama and former Education Minister posing together as NDC’s ticket has gone viral on social media platforms with the suggestion that the ex-President was set to announce the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast as his running tonight.
But Mr. Mahama who’s NDC Flagbearer in response to the issue on Facebook, indicated that the process for selection of a running mate is yet to be completed.
“The selection of a running mate is done by the Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in consultation with the Council of Elders and the National Executive Committee of the Party.
“There has been no meeting of either of the two bodies called for this purpose. How would any person believe that I am going to announce a running mate at 5PM today?”.
Mr Mahama will speak to his supporters through Facebook later today.
