The General Secretary of National Association of Local Authorities of Ghana (NALAG), Mr Kokro Amankwah has stated that the promise made by the former President John Dramani Mahama to pay an allowance to Assembly members is nothing but a political gimmick and should not be taken seriously.

According to him, former President Mahama couldn’t even buy motorbikes for Assembly members while in office even though he knew how difficult their work is because he has been as Assemblyman.

He added that a petition to the late President Mills to amend part of the constitution so that Assembly members can also benefit from their hard work was not attended to by Mr. Mahama after he took overpower.

In an interview with Peace FM’s Reporter Kwabena Manu, Mr. Kokro Amankwah wondered how someone like this will come back and say he will give allowance to Assembly members.
