Nkoranza South and Nkoranza North demand fair share of ‘national cake’

The Movement for Nkoranzaman Development (MONKODET) has expressed concern over the sharing of the ‘national cake in terms of development in Nkoranza South and Nkoranza in the Bono East Region.

According to MONKODET, though it acknowledges that the Akufo-Addo administration has taken many initiatives such as IDIF, Free SHS, Agenda 111, to name a few, Nkoranza North and South are yet to receive their fair share of these measures.

The group in a statement noted that inasmuch as “the current government has promised to build 20 km of inner city roads in Nkoranza Township in 2020, nothing has happened to date.

“This also applies to Nkoranza North, Busunya Township roads, Busunya to Dromankese Road, Baafi, Kranka to Yefri Road, on which the MP for Nkoranza North has questioned the Minister of Roads in Parliament on March 4, 2022, to name a few.”

Touching on the 1D1F programme, the statement added: “At this stage, Nkoranza South District cannot even show a plot of land allocated for the construction of a factory, let alone a cadastral plan for the site, while other districts in the region have already implemented such measures.”

PRESS RELEASE BY MOVEMENT FOR NKORANZAMAN DEVELOPMENT (MONKODET.)
The Movement for Nkoranzaman Development (MONKODET) wishes to express its concern about the status of Nkoranza North and South in terms of sharing the ‘national cake’ as far as development is concerned.
As much as we can attest that the current government led by Nana Addo has taken many initiatives such as IDIF, Free SHS, Agenda 111, to name a few, Nkoranza North and South have not received their fair share of these measures.

ROAD NETWORK
The current government has promised to build 20 km of inner city roads in Nkoranza Township in 2020, but nothing has happened to date.
This also applies to Nkoranza North, Busunya Township roads, Busunya to Dromankese Road, Baafi, Kranka to Yefri Road, on which the MP for Nkoranza North has questioned the Minister of Roads in Parliament on March 4, 2022, to name a few.

1D1F
At this stage, Nkoranza South District cannot even show a plot of land allocated for the construction of a factory, let alone a cadastral plan for the site, while other districts in the region have already implemented such measures.

AGENDA 111 (Construction of a Special Hospital)
Nkoranza North, by divine providence, was fortunate to have Agenda 111 started this year. But Nkoranza Municipality’s Special Hospital, for which the President organized a big rally in front of Nananom and the entire community to break ground in 2020, is a mirage.

NKORANZA NEW MARKET
The Nkoranza New Market seems to be an embarrassment to our Municipality because apart from the sheds erected by the individual market traders, the place cannot boast of any development as the traders were forced to move from the old market to the so called New Market which we see in Nkoranza in 2010 under the leadership of Hon. Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, the then MCE.
Hon. Daniel Oweredu in his “meeting with the press” on Tuesday, November 29, 2022, stated that the construction of the market is budgeted for 2023 and that funds are available to start the work in 2023. We, therefore, urge the MCE to walk his talk.

ELECTRICITY
Nkoranza residents confirm the installation of new streetlights on some major roads and streets, but for more than 6 months we cannot say why there is no connection to improve the dwindling security in the community.

YAM MARKET AT ASEKYE
Yam market built by Hon. Derreck Oduro, former MP for Nkoranza North, has not been used since its construction in 2020.

ASTRO-TURF
The construction of the artificial turf started by Hon. Charles Konadu Yiadom in 2020 has been abandoned compared to other districts that have put theirs into use.

DVLA
The MCE Hon. Daniel Oweredu in his sectional address on 23rd June,2022, at a meeting with the Hon. Assembly Members at Nkoranza South Municipal Assembly, mentioned that establishment of DVLA in Nkoranza is well advanced but nothing has been heard since then.

REGIONAL REORGANIZATION AND INVOLVEMENT
Although the municipality of Nkoranza has not been denied the division of the department among different districts in the Bono East region, the regional Department of Education is still the only department allocated to Nkoranza, but the construction has been abandoned by the developer.

We therefore appeal to the current Government, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the Regional Minister, the MCE for Nkoranza South Municipal, the MP for Nkoranza South, the DCE of Nkoranza North, and the MP for Nkoranza North to come out and tell the good people of Nkoranza why we have been left out in the development.
Nkoranzaman deserves good roads
Nkoranzaman deserves development.

Long live Ghana, long live Nkoranza North/South, long live MONKODET.

Signed:
