Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Marfo has tested positive for COVID-19.
This was revealed by the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah at the Ministry’s Press briefings on Covid-19 pandemic.
It comes on the heels of goverment announcement that President Akufo-Addo was self-isolating after coming into contact with a COVID-19 positive person.
A statement signed by Information Minister over the weekend said the decision is on the advice of the President’s physicians.
“On the advice of doctors, the President of the Republic of Ghana, is from today, July 4, 2020, taking a 14-day precautionary self-isolation measure in compliance with Covid-19 protocols.”
The statement, however, noted that even though one person around the President has tested positive for the virus, he was negative as of Saturday evening.
