A total of 16,663,699 Ghanaians registered in the just ended voters registration exercise, according to the Electoral Commission(EC).
The EC had projected to register 15 million eligible Ghanaians during the exercise which spanned 38 days. It, however, exceeded that target at the close of the mass registration on Thursday, August 6, 2020.
The electoral management body will conduct mopping up exercise on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August 2020 at EC District Offices.
A total of 30, 462 challenged cases representing 0.2 percent were recorded.
A few people registered without the biometric machine capturing their finger imprints largely due to the kind of work they do, which has affected their fingers. Their faces will be verified during the main elections.
