Seven persons including a three-month-old baby have been killed in a motor accident that occurred Thursday morning on the Kumasi-Accra Highway.
Forty-seven others who survived with various degrees of injuries are responding to treatment at various hospitals including the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, police said on Thursday.
The accident involved a VVIP and OA commercial buses with registration numbers GT 6082-18 and GT 4913-14 respectively.
It still remains unclear what caused the accident but images obtained by DailymailGh.com spotted the police and other emergency services racing with time to retrieve bodies of the victims.
Superintendent Emmanuel Adu-Boahen of the Ashanti Regional Police MTTD said in an interview that investigations have started.
“So we are gathering more information and will come out with the full details later but now only the driver has been identified and we are appealing to the public to contact the Konongo Divisional Command or the Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Department to help identify the other victims”, Superintendent Adu-Boahen said.
Bodies of the deceased have been deposited at a hospital morgue for preservation.
