$4.5m was spent on AFCON – Sports Min. tells Parliament

Sports Minister, Isaac Asiamah has said Ghana spent 4.5 million dollars for the campaign of the Senior National Team, Black Stars during this year’s AFCON tournament in Egypt.

Also an amount of $6.3 million was budgeted for the entire tournament

The Sports Minister made the disclosure before the House on Wednesday morning.

The Minister further disclosed the Normalization committee has been tasked to produce a comprehensive report on the poor performance of the Senior National team in the tournament for reforms to be made.

The Black Stars at the just ended AFCON 2019 suffered a round of 16 stage exit in the tournament.

The Black Stars recorded a poor showing,the worst in history since 2006 after it failed to reach the semi-finals. Fans even before the campaign remained unenthused about the team’s performance to end a 37-year old trophy drought. Facebook
