Five armed Fulani men have allegedly assaulted and robbed two persons of their cash and mobile phones at Kpaliguuni near Nkwanta, Ejura in the Ashanti Region.
The incident occurred on Monday February 14, 2021.
The victims, Kaalali Yakubu aged 34 tricycle rider, and Kwaku Donkor Yakubu aged 29 rider, the attackers took away cash the sum of Ghc 2850.00 one (1) Tecno phone and cash Ghc 1500 and one (1) itel phone respectively.
Both victims complained of bodily pains as a result of severe beatings by the armed men.
According to the Police, they received information at about 1940 hours on Monday indicating that there has been a robbery attack at Kpaliguuni near Nkwanta, Ejura.
Police proceeded to the scene but the robbers had fled into the bush but met a large crowd of about 150 community members mostly farmers and traders with most of the male armed with single barrel gun.
Inspection at the scene revealed five (5) spent AAA cartridges and same retrieved for evidential purpose.
Hon. Assemblyman Philip Appiah and Issahaku Abubakar a Unit Committee member pleaded with the aggrieved community members to exercise restraint and not to take the law into their own hands, as Police are doing their best to trace the armed men.
Victims were taken to Kasei hospital for treatment and were treated and discharged.
According to the Police, informants have been contacted to alert Police with credible information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators for investigation, adding that the situation is being closely monitored.
