Police in the Ashanti Region has revealed the identity of six suspected armed robbers who gang-raped a woman at Boaman in the Ashanti Region as alleged Fulani herdsmen.
Eyewitnesses account say the robbers on Tuesday dawn blocked part of the road between Boaman and Kumasi and stopped vehicles heading that way.
The robbers took away monies from the passengers and in turns raped a lady on one of the vehicles.
The Deputy Ashanti Regional Police PRO, ASP Godwin Ahianyo said the Regional Commander has called a meeting of all senior Police officers in the region to reinforce their security strategies in the areas of jurisdiction.
He added that the police are on a manhunt for the robbers.
“We’ve not made any arrests but we’ve taken some leads. We are told they are of Fulani extraction that is what is being alleged and so we’ve mounted a search for them in the bushes around and the smaller villages within the Kodie and Boaman areas.”
