Esi Affumwaa, a 48-year-old Akpeteshie farmer and vendor, was granted bail by the Assin Fosu District Court, which is presided over by His Worship Abdul Majid Iliasu. He is accused of abusing a customer by allegedly biting his testicle.
Affumwaa received GH¢10,000 bail with two sureties, one of whom had to live in the court’s jurisdiction.
The prosecution’s lead investigator, Inspector Matilda Osaah Buaben, told the court that the event happened at Assin Wurakese Camp in the Assin Fosu Municipality on Wednesday, February 26, 2024, at around 4:30 p.m.
The prosecution claims that 36-year-old farmer Karim Osman, the complainant, went to the accused’s home to buy a cigarette. A disagreement about a GH¢2.40 debt developed into a physical altercation.
The complainant claimed suffered severe injuries and extensive blood after the accused bit his testicle after striking his head with a piece of firewood.
Affumwaa was arrested when Osman reported the incident to the police. She acknowledged hurting the complainant while being questioned.
She entered a guilty plea with an explanation in court, however, claiming that she acted in self-defence after the complainant reportedly knocked her down.
She claimed to have pinched his testicle during the altercation, but she denied biting it.
