All visitors to Ghana effective 14th Dec. must be fully vaccinated – Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has announced that beginning Tuesday, 14th December 2021, the government has decided that all visitors coming to Ghana must be fully vaccinated.

This move, the President noted, is to limit the importation of Coronavirus into the country through the Kotoka International Airport.

According to him, all persons seeking to travel out of the country must also be fully vaccinated.

In his Update No. 27 on measures taken against COVID-19 on Wednesday night, President Akufo-Addo stated that fully vaccinated persons coming to Ghana must in addition be in possession of a negative PCR test of not more than 72 hours and also take a mandatory covid test upon arrival at the Airport.

“Children aged 5 to 12 years will not pay for the test. Any passenger testing positive at the Airport will be kept in isolation in a designated isolation facility and a non-Ghanaian will receive treatment at his or her own cost, the President said.

He disclosed that communications have been duly served to all airlines flying to Ghana on the imposition of $3,500 fine for each unvaccinated passenger that is allowed to board a flight into the country.

“Unvaccinated Ghanaians and residents who departed Ghana before 14th December and who return by 28th December will be offered vaccination on arrival at the Airport. Further details will be provided by the Ghana Health Service.” President Akufo-Addo added.

He noted that though he acknowledges that these are stringent measures the benefits far outweighs the negatives.
