A bus carrying Ashgold SC players and officials was attacked on its way from Accra after their Matchday 21 clash with Accra Hearts of Oak SC.
The Miners lost 2-1 thanks to a brace from Daniel Afriyie but were faced with a near-fatal robbery attack along the Assin Endwa stretch on their return trip to Obuasi.
The robbers aimed and shot at the windscreen in a bid to stop and rob the bus of some valuables.
The bulletproof windscreen however saved the bus driver and the team as seen in the visuals attached.
There are no casualties from the robbery attack which could have proved otherwise if the windscreen hadn’t absorbed the live bullets.
This is the first time that a Ghanaian Club has been involved in a robbery incident or road accident with several other clubs suffering similar led by the fatal Asante Kotoko SC road accident along that same stretch.
Ghana Football Association will make an official statement of the state of the players with a consolation message in the ensuing hours.
