President Akufo-Addo will today address the nation on Ghana’s covid-19 situation and the measures taken by the government to check the spread of the virus.
This comes ahead of the vaccination programme due to take place on Tuesday, March, 2, 2021.
Today’s address,is expected to shed light on details of the covid-19 jab and other related measures to stop the virus.
On Wednesday, February 27, 2021, Ghana became the First Nation in the world to receive 600 thousand doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
This is a World Health Organization-backed effort to procure and distribute inoculations for free to poor countries.
Covax has said it would deliver two billion doses of COVID-19 vaccines globally by the end of 2021.
“These 600,000 Covax vaccines are part of an initial tranche of deliveries of the AstraZeneca / Oxford vaccine licensed to the Serum Institute of India, which represent part of the first wave of Covid vaccines headed to several low and middle-income countries,” said UNICEF, which organised the shipment from Mumbai, in a joint statement with the WHO.
