Health officials will today, Friday, September 24, 2021, continue administering the COVID-19 vaccine across the country.
This phase of the roll-out comes after the Ghana Health Service took delivery of additional doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
“This phase of the exercise is open to the general public. Persons 18 years or older who have never received a vaccine or have received only one dose of AstraZeneca are to participate in the exercise,” a statement issued by the Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye said.
The statement further entreated all eligible persons to take along a valid Photo ID card when visiting any designated centre within their respective regions for vaccination.
“The Ghana Health Service would like to take this opportunity to reassure the general public that the country is not relenting in its efforts at acquiring additional vaccines to control the COVID- 19 epidemic,” the statement added.
In March 2021, Ghana started the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines beginning with AstraZeneca.
To date, over one million persons have received at least one dose of AstraZeneca, Sputnik- V, or Johnson & Johnson vaccine with nearly 800,000 of them being fully vaccinated.
