James Kwesi Appiah is named Sudan’s national team’s head coach.

The Sudanese Football Association and coach James Kwesi Appiah have agreed to a three-year contract for him to serve as the senior team’s technical director, the Nile Crocodiles.

For the following three years, the former Black Stars coach will guide the former African champions in an effort to unify the continent.

 

According to a statement from the football organisation, a new technical committee has been constituted to oversee senior team operations moving forward.

 

“The Committee would be headed by Captain Mohamed Abdullah Mazda and the membership of Captains Burhan Teh, Hamdan Hamad, Fawzi Al-Taisha, Ghanaian coach Kwasi Appiah as technical director, Moroccan Youssef Fartout as general coach, Ghanaian assistant coach, and Salah Nour El-Din as coach.”

In order to reconstruct the team in time for international competitions, it was highlighted that three Ghanaian coaches—an assistant coach, goalkeepers trainer, and fitness coach—who would also serve on the committee.

Former Sudanese premier league head coach Kwesi Appiah, 63, guided Khartoum Watani to the 2017 CAF Confederation Cup qualifiers.

 

He is now the chairman of Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee and aspires to join the GFA Executive Committee board during the upcoming administration.
