Kelvynboy, a Ghanaian singer and Down flat hitmaker, has openly voiced his dissatisfaction and displeasure with Stonebwoy, his former manager, claiming him of employing “mafia tactics” to impede his career advancement.
In a tirade on X (twitter) today, Kelvynboy asserted that Stonebwoy’s behaviour had alienated Ghanaians and made it impossible for him to achieve his goals, but that grace was speaking for him.
“Ningga, what specifically do you want from me? Since you are a saint and can never do anything wrong, you have defamed me and incited the majority of Ghanaians against me.
“Your mafia tactics are the main reason I didn’t reach the heights I did, but Grace speaks for me no matter what,” he wrote on social media.
Kelvyn’s post comes after Stonebwoy implied that working with Kelvyn Boy on his Burniton Music label in 2018 put his life in danger, leading to their breakup.
Although Stonebwoy hasn’t really discussed their disagreement since 2019, Kelvynboy may have been incensed by his recent remarks in an interview with MC Portfolio that his life was in danger.
When Kelvynboy joined Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music Group (BMG), he contributed his own Afrobeat sound to balance out Stonebwoy’s supremacy in reggae/dancehall. The collaboration appeared promising, as Kelvynboy emerged as one of Ghana’s most rapidly developing talents.
But in the middle of 2019, tension-related rumours started to circulate. Kelvynboy was accused of treating Stonebwoy disrespectfully and without gratitude.
According to insiders, Kelvynboy thought that his label boss devalued and overshadowed him. The rumours reached a climax in September 2019, when BMG declared that Kelvynboy’s contract had been terminated due to “structural challenges.”
Their work connection ended with the breakup, but the hostility persisted. On social media, the two artists periodically traded subtle punches, with Kelvynboy lamenting being misinterpreted and underappreciated and Stonebwoy implying betrayal.
Tensions increased in 2020 after Kelvynboy was allegedly attacked at an Ashaiman event. Given the setting and timing, supporters conjectured that Stonebwoy’s squad might have been involved, despite his public denial of any involvement.
The already tense relationship between the two musicians was further exacerbated by the occurrence.
Even after years apart, Kelvyn Boy has tried to patch things up, frequently reaching out through the media. He even publicly knelt at one point and pleaded with Stonebwoy to get past their differences and make amends.
