The Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi has been left in darkness following a downpour which lasted for about an hour.
The rains which started around 7pm Thursday is reported to have caused havoc in other parts of the city.
The strong winds that accompanied the rains caused some billboards to fall, one of which fell on some persons injuring them in the process.
Reports say one of the dormitories of Asanteman Senior High School had its roof ripped off.
The Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of Power Distribution Company (PDS) Mr Baidoo believes the blackout could be as a result of some of their transformers going off during the thunderstorm.
