The National Chairman of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Samuel Ofosu Ampofo will today Tuesday, April 16 appear before an Accra Commercial High Court over the leaked tape involving him.
The chairman is being charged for conspiracy to cause harm and assault against a public officer.
He is to appear alongside a national communications officer of the party Kwaku Boahene, the party announced in a statement Monday.
Although both men have denied the charges against them, the Police have insisted the comments made by Mr Ofosu Ampofo in a leaked audio tape have implications for national security.
In the leaked audio, a voice that sounds similar to Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo’s told party communicators that “we’re going to take her [EC boss] to the cleaners.”
“As for the EC chair, we must wage a relentless war on this EC chair. Me, she doesn’t want to see my face,” Ofosu-Ampofo allegedly said at the meeting which took place after the Ayawaso by-election.
He’d also incited the party communicators to verbally attack the Peace Council chairman Professor Emmanuel Asante. Facebook Twitte
