Following their Sunday, February 23 loss against Golden Kick of the Division One League, Accra Hearts of Oak will not participate in the 2024–25 MTN FA Cup again.
After a goalless draw at the end of ninety minutes, Hearts lost 4-3 in penalties at the University of Ghana Stadium.
After being located by Michael Ampadu, Kwabena Boateng ought to have given the Phobians the lead fifteen minutes later. But the latter’s attempt was inches from the post.
Boateng was in a fantastic position eleven minutes later, but the Golden Kick goalie caught his attempt.
In the 38th minute, the goalie tipped Ampadu’s shot over the crossbar, forcing him to make another excellent save.
Theophilus Collins was sent off for a foul on the other player, resulting in a second yellow card, and Hearts were reduced to 10 players in the second half.
Five minutes from the end, Golden Kick could have won, but Hearts’ Benjamin Asare saved them and prevented the home team from winning.
Penalties were the game’s deciding factor, as the match ended in a scoreless draw.
Golden Kick made four of their penalties to guarantee they eliminated the Phobians, but Asamoah Boateng and Samuel Amofa missed theirs.
