Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta is scheduled to deliver the mid-year budget review statement today, July 25, 2022.
The presentation of the Mid-Year Budget review was rescheduled weeks ago to allow for negotiations with the IMF team who visited the country for data gathering as part of processes towards rolling Ghana onto a program.
The mid-year budget review will highlight how the government has managed the economy for the first half of the year, and project what to expect for the rest of the year.
The presentation comes on the heels of the authorities’ decision to go back for an IMF programme, just three years after ending one – the Extended Credit Facility.
Meanwhile, Ghanaians have been assured the government would work to protect its social intervention programmes like the Free SHS, and Ghana School Feeding Programme, among others in any discussion to improve the fortunes of the economy.
Also, it remains to be seen whether the government will drop the electronic transfer levy, which is woefully failing to meet government targets.
The government is reportedly raking in only 10 percent of the estimated revenue.
