Martin Amoah, also known as Augustine Amoah, popularly known as “Baba Macho,” is wanted by the Ashanti Regional Police Command for allegedly taking part in the robbery and murder of a mobile money salesman in Kumasi.
According to the police, he is a dangerous fugitive who may be hiding in Accra, Dunkwa-on-Offin, Kumasi, or the Central Region.
In relation to the recent robbery and murder of two mobile money vendors in the Ashanti Region, three individuals have already been taken into custody.
Parts of the Ashanti Region are in a state of fear and panic after three mobile money dealers were killed in separate events in Kumasi during the last two months.
Guns were used in two of the three recent murders of MoMo merchants.
Patricia Nimako was slain after being robbed in front of her MoMo store on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Krofrom.
In the second occurrence, Gideon Owusu Sarpong, also known as “Junior,” was robbed and killed at his Kwadaso home on the evening of Monday, March 10.
The suspects that were taken into custody are Samuel Audae Mensah, 42; Philip Foujour, 29; and Charles Kwame Danso, 23, also referred to as “Kwame Charles” or “Miami.”
The three suspects were arrested in Pankrono and Atimatim on March 21, 2025, according to confirmation from the Ashanti Regional Police Command.
Martin Amoah is still at large, and Deputy Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe is urging the public to help in the search for him.
“The police are asking anyone who knows where he is to call them at the toll-free numbers 191 or 112 (18555 MTN and Telecel),” he stated.
The public is reassured by the Ashanti Regional Police Command that steps are being made to protect mobile money enterprises and the general public.
The police commander stated that the Ashanti Regional Police Command is still dedicated to seeing that justice is done and urged the public to continue being watchful in order to assist in holding all accountable parties accountable.
The suspects will appear in court to face justice after being placed under police custody.
In addition to addressing the possession of illegal firearms and ammunition, the Ashanti Regional Security Council earlier announced plans to curb the high number of robberies. These plans included enhancing police presence, stopping unregistered motorcycles, and offering safety training to MoMo merchants.
