The Ejura Municipality Police Command has stopped irate youth in Sekyedumase in the Ashanti Region from staging a demonstration against President Akufo Addo for failing to honour his promises made to them during the electioneering campaign.
According to the youth, President Akufo-Addo has failed to elevate Sekyedumase which is currently under Ejura to a municipal status five years after he assumed power.
The youth also bemoaned the lack of amenities such as a toilet facility at the Sekyedumase Health Centre, and a public toilet a situation that creates inconvenience for patients and residents.
They also lamented over the poor state of the roads in the area making transportation uncomfortable.
But the Ejura Municipal Police Commander, DSP Philip Kojo Hammond in an interview with Naagyei FM’s Kwabena Adjei stated that in stopping the youth, he advised them to comply with the Public Order Act by notifying the police to provide them with the needed security protection.
He later proceeded to the Krontihene of Sekyedumase to inform him of the planned move by the youth who then assured to engage the youth and advise them against taking the law into their hands.
