John Dramani Mahama, the president of Ghana, has thanked the people of Ghana for allowing him to return to the country and promised that their confidence will not be in vain.
He claims that their votes will have a big impact on his leadership as he strives to transform the nation.
I want to express my gratitude to the millions of my countrymen and women who stood in lengthy lines and braved the sun to cast their votes for me.
“I firmly and unwaveringly promise that your votes will count in my efforts to change the course of this beloved country of ours. Your bravery in bringing about change won’t be accepted.
Shortly after taking the oath of office as the new president on Tuesday, January 7, Mr. Mahama made a commitment to work hard.
He declared, “As your next leader, I will work to use good judgement and make the right decisions at the right times.”
The former president, Mr. Mahama, returned to office in the December 2024 elections. He clarified that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government had failed to control the economy for the previous eight years, which is why he was on a mission to reset the nation.
He stressed that he will “have the humility and presence of mind to take responsibility for any challenges” now that he has assumed the mantle.
“I am willing to act firmly and promptly to resolve the challenges that we face as a nation,” he continued.
