A Security man stationed at the ATMs of Barclays Bank and GCB Bank near the Sunyani Technical University has been killed by suspected armed robbers on Thursday evening.
The deceased, Dabila Sumaila, 50, is believed to have struggled with the assailants before his death.
The PRO of the Brong Ahafo Regional Police Command, Chief Insp. Agustine Kingsley Oppong who confirmed the unfortunate incident to the media narrated that a report was filed at the Police Station by a passerby who suspected foul play due to the awkward sitting position of the security man.
He said, the police then moved to the crime scene and realized that the deceased had his hands and legs fastened with a rope and his face covered. The Police then inspected the body and sent it the victim to the Sunyani Government Hospital where he was confirmed dead.
Chief Insp. Agustine Kingsley added that the police then conducted a preliminary investigation at the bank where it emerged that the suspected armed robbers tried breaking into the ATM but were unsuccessful.
It is believed out of anger, the assailants then attacked and killed the security man.
Investigations have commenced into the matter with the police urging any member of the public who has information on the incident to report to the Police to ensure the culprits are arrested.
