Friday, November 8, will not be observed as a public holiday, according to the Ministry of the Interior.
The 2024 National Farmers’ Day will be celebrated on that date, but it won’t be a public holiday, the Ministry said.
On Tuesday, November 5, Interior Minister Henry Quartey signed and released a press release that included this information.
The statement also made it clear that Farmers’ Day, which falls on Friday, December 6, 2024, will continue to be a statutory public holiday that is observed across the country.
This follows the Ministry of Food and Agriculture’s announcement that Friday, November 8, 2024, will be National Farmers’ Day.
“President Akufo-Addo confirmed the date for the 40th edition of the annual celebration,” the Ministry said in a news release.
According to the announcement, there won’t be any regional celebrations this year and the Greater Accra Region will host the national farmers’ event.
Each region may, however, propose candidates for ten regional award categories, according to the Ministry.
In order to be celebrated at the Awards Night Ceremony, which will take place at the Alisa Hotel in North Ridge at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2024, these awardees must travel to Accra.
According to a portion of the release, “Regional Ministers will present awards to the honourees from their respective regions at this ceremony.”
