Two arrested over #FixTheCountry activist murder

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested 2 suspects over the murder of a social/political activist Ibrahim Mohammed alias Kaaka in Ejura.

The suspects were icked on Monday night at 10:45 pm following Police intelligence.

The suspects arrested are Ibrahim Issaka and Fuseini Alhassan.

The Ashanti regional police public relations officer, ASP Godwin Ahianyor gave details of the arrests on Tuesday.

“Police investigations will also extend to rumours that the deceased was a Journalist and a member of the FixTheCountry movement, to ascertain if the murder was linked to his work or movement,” ASP Godwin Ahianyor said.

Background

An activist of the #FixTheCountry movement, Ibrahim Mohammed, alias Kaaka has been killed by unknown assailants for his advocacy at Ejura Sekyeredumase in the Ashanti region.

He is said to have had his head clubbed in his home Friday night by the assailants until he became unconscious and was rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi where he later died Monday afternoon.

Sources say though he reported threats to his life to the police by some people who claimed his activism on social media was making the government unpopular in Ejura, the law enforcement agency failed to act but rather issued him with a warning letter to be cautious of his utterances.
