Ofori Amponsah, a seasoned artist, has shown his respect for fellow music icon Daddy Lumba by narrating a touching gesture from their first meeting.
Ofori Amponsah talked on TV3 about how he worked relentlessly for years to get people to listen to his songs before he had his big break in the music business.
“I was in school, and I would grab my CDs and go around after classes,” he recounted. I visited a CD store in Lapaz one day, thinking it would be my last try. After four years of trying to get noticed by wandering about, I was about to give up.
According to Ofori Amponsah, the store clerk first enquired as to whether he was a music producer.
Although he said no, the attendant accepted and enjoyed his music.
Ofori Amponsah continued by describing how his life was transformed upon first encountering Daddy Lumba. Lumba gave him money as a sign of support in addition to praising his music.
This ultimately resulted in a partnership between the two musicians, which launched Ofori Amponsah’s successful career.
The Otoolege hitmaker talked about how his life was transformed by a fortuitous meeting with a CD store employee. The attendant said that seasoned musician Daddy Lumba was searching for up-and-coming talent after hearing Ofori’s tunes.
Ofori Amponsah regrettably doesn’t know the attendant’s present whereabouts to thank him for his crucial assistance in helping him break into the music business.
Ofori Amponsah recalled how he first met the Makra Mo hitmaker and how Daddy Lumba was taken aback to discover that he was the creator of the lovely music he had been listening to. After entering the room, [Daddy Lumba] departed and came back with an envelope. At the time, it was worth roughly GH¢5,000, and he declared, “You are a star.”
Ofori went on to say that because Daddy Lumba had ceased making music, it took an additional four to five years for the songs to be released. Ofori Amponsah was still enrolled in school at the time, but he was expelled, so he had to figure out how to make ends meet.
