We thank govt for setting up c’ttee to investigate deaths of Kaaka and 2 others – Ejurahene

Barima Osei Hwedie II, Ejurahene has expressed gratitude to the government for setting up three (3) member committee to investigate the recent murder of three people in Ejura.

According to the paramount chief, he and his elders have confidence that the committee will do a good job and come out with recommendations that will prevent the recurrence of soldiers shooting dead innocent civilians.

Barima Osei Hwedie II Ejurahene revealed this when the committee made up of Justice George Kingsley Koomson, a Justice of the Court of Appeal, Security Expert, Vladimir Antwi-Danso, and the Executive Director of Penplusbyte, Miss Juliet A. Amoah visited him in his palace on Monday.

The Chief further emphasized the need for military barracks in Ejura Sekyedumase and also increase the number of police personnel within the Municipality to help fight criminal activities in the area especially during general elections.

Justice George Kingsley Koomson in his comment disclosed that the committee will commence its investigation on Tuesday at Prempeh Assembly Hall and further assured the public that they will do a good job as dictated by their mandate.

Two people on Tuesday were shot dead while six others sustained varying degrees of injuries at Ejura after security officers opened fire on angry youth protesting the murder of social activist Muhammed Ibrahim popularly known as Kaaka.

Ibrahim Mohammed, alias Kaaka was killed by unknown assailants for his advocacy at Ejura Sekyeredumase.

He is said to have had his head clubbed in his home Friday night by the assailants until he became unconscious and was rushed to the Ejura Government Hospital. He was later transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi where he died Monday afternoon.
