The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Atebubu Amantin Constituency branch in the Bono East Region has described as unjustified the ban placed on the former MP for the area, Sanja Nanja by the Atebubu Amantin Traditional Council.
The Council on Wednesday August 14, 2019 placed a ban on Sanja Nanja who’s the NDC Parliamentary Aspirant Mr. Sanja Nanja from campaigning on their land.
The chiefs and elders sacrificed sheep to the gods in the open to officially signify the enforcement of the ban of the ex- MP for insulting the queen mother of the area and also failing to render an apology.
All the sub-chiefs in area have also been directed not to entertain Mr. Nanja in their palace or locality. Any chief who will be seen or caught engaging in any activity which involves the NDC Parliamentary Aspirant shall be destoled.
The same Traditional Council first placed the ban on Sanja Nanja ahead of the 2016 election which caused him to lose his parliamentary seat.
Commenting on the issue on Naagyei FM, the Atebubu Amantin Constituency
Communications Director, Amidu Bukari stated that the chiefs who have never hidden their dislike for Sanja Nanja ever since he was appointed a District Chief Executive for the area by late President Mills in 2009, have taken the latest action to frustrate Sanja Nanja’s political ambition.
He said the NDC has done everything possible to resolve the issue including asking the Council what exactly Sanja Nanja should do to bring pacify the queen mother and the gods but the chiefs have made it impossible as they’ve not been cooperative.
