Police have arrested the alleged killer of the two police officers at Gomoa Buduburam near Kasoa in the Central Region.
Police sources say the suspect, one Eric Kojo Duah, was arrested around 2:00am Saturday[today] on his way to Aflao.
“Upon a telephone call received from SUPT. Abbas of police HQRS/ Ops. Policemen detailed on duty at ATIMPOKU bridge were alerted to arrest occupants of a black Golf car heading towards Volta region. No. 45971 G/L/Cpl Theophilus Kyeremeh i/c men arrested suspect Eric Kojo Duah on board Golf no. GW 5972 – 18 with a plaster on his left side of his face. As soon as the arrest was made SUPT. Abbas of HQRS ops on board s/v NO. GP 3052 driven by SGT Osman arrived. The suspect was detained as the SPO awaits escort from.” A police SITREP indicated.
The acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong-Boanuh, had placed a ¢10,000 bounty on the head of Eric Kojo Duah, who is alleged to be the main suspect involved in the killing of two policemen.
Three other suspects — Ibrahim Zakaria, Isaac Amissah and Dominic Commey have already been arrested for their role in the allegedly shooting and killing of the two policemen.
Their vehicle, an unregistered Toyota Camry, has also been seized together with some relevant exhibits. The two murdered officers were reportedly stationed at Kasoa MTTD.
Eyewitnesses say the police officer murdered policemen prior to their shooting approached the suspect, who was driving the unregistered blue/black Toyota Camry vehicle in an attempt to arrest him, the police officer first slapped the suspect in the face.
The suspect, then went to his car brought out a gun and fired at the police officers.
