Desist from stealing electricity cables or be dealt with – Ejura MCE warns criminals

The Chief Executive of Ejura-Sekyedumase Municipality, Hon. Salisu Bamba has issued a stern warning to miscreants who engage in the criminal act of stealing streetlight cables to desist immediately or be ruthlessly dealt with by the law.

He described the theft of the electricity cables as sabotage by unscrupulous persons in the area.

Not long ago we found out that around Ashakoko some people cut the wires that provide the streetlights with power resulting in blackout on the main road. I urge all residents to be on the lookout for such criminals and have them arrested. It is not always that case that whenever our lights go off there’s a fault from the national grid, sometimes the power cuts are as a result of stealing of our cables,” Hon. Bamba told Host Henry Lord on Naagyei FM.

He also served notice that the assembly will soon undertake an exercise to clear off structures under high tension poles in the area.

I urge everyone who has a structure beneath the high tension poles to begin removing them be it fitting shop or containers. It is our own interest that we do this to avoid needless deaths in the unfortunate event that some of the cables tear down.”
