NDC’s Edem Agbana does not owe SLTF – Mgt.

Management of the Students Loan Trust Fund has said Deputy National Youth Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress( NDC), Eric Edem Agbana does not owe the Fund as purported by sections of the media.

Mr. Agbana was reportedly captured with student ID 10339654 from the University of Ghana where he allegedly took the loan to support his education.

A Press Release issued and signed by George Ferguson Laing, Head of Public Relations of the Students Loan Trust Fund stated categorically that the NDC youth leader is not part of the defaulters of the Fund.

“The attention of the Students Loan Trust Fund has been drawn to online publications, naming some political figures as being defaulters of the Fund, including Mr. Edem Agbana, Deputy National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress, who has since approached Management of the Fund to express his reservations. We would like to state that the SLTF took the decision to publish the details of some defaulters in accordance with the Students Loan Trust Fund Act, 2011, Act 820 Section 26 (1-7). The first list of defaulters was published on the 21st of November, 2019 in the Daily Graphic, whiles the second batch was published on the 26th of November, 2019. Both lists are attached for your perusal and do not include the name of Mr. Agbana, who is not indebted to the Fund.” said the STLF statement.

Mr. Eric Edem Agbana has since taken an exception to the publication by the Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) vowing to deal with STLF frontally over its publication.

He’s challenged the credibility of the list making rounds and threatened a legal suit against the Board for gross defamation among other things.
